General stylistics
R. Simic
2001. cyrillic, paper back, p. 306, 24 cm
This book contains a brief historical review of rhetoric, stylistics and original theory of style. Author makes distinction between two mutually opposite theories: the theory of exception and the theory of choice. The crucial idea is that of understanding a style as variation and as a certain choice between several variations, where variation itself is to be taken as stylistic activity of forms and its main purpose is to increase the ”efficiency” of language, and of other form-marks and structures, too.
