The personality and the reign of Pio XII (1939-1958), especially during the World War II, were the subject of the critic started right out after the war. In the beginnig of 60's the critical remarks became more and more accusatory: great and very serious responsibility was ascribed to deceased Pope Eugenio Pacceli, especially regarding his silence about the Holocaust, as well as the accusation that, during his reign, he didn't do anything against nazis barbarian politics... The author of the book, M. A. Riveli, raises the questions about the responsibility of Chatolic church for nazis crimes, but in an argumentative and substantial scientific way.
